I’ve brought izak for a mid vacation haircut much to his chagrin! (He’s always hated taking haircuts since he was a kid and today is no different) I called ahead to make an appointment with his “favourite” hair dresser Rahul, but when we reach the salon Rahul is busy tending to an alpha millennial so an unassuming newbie walks over to take charge of izak. I’m a bit miffed and wave him off since we “trust” only Rahul to cut Izak’s hair. The newbie shrugs and disappears into the back room. Rahul continues to snip away at alpha millennial and izak waits his turn patiently.

Then it strikes me. How will someone get work experience if you don’t give them work experience?

Fortunately for me the situation is salvageable and I immediately ask the manager to send the newbie back to us. His name is Ayan and he is from Kolkata. He shows up with a spring in his step and clips in his hands.

As I write this blog post, the snipping is still on and hair is falling to the floor (lots of it!). And someone is getting the experience of cutting one more head of hair!

here’s to 9999 more haircuts Ayan! May the universe bless you with many more experiences!
