Every year in December (like every pot bellied catholic worth his beer belly and baritone) i get summoned by HR for a chat.

“will you please play Santa at the company’s Secret Santa party?”

How do you say NO to HR?

Career prospects in a gloomy market suddenly start to shine bright-er!

You start to imagine the promotion and raise, just for playing a fictional character and delivering gifts to your fellow employees in a bright red suit with a fake white beard, and if you are lucky, the lips come out where they are supposed to.

Lucky for me our Admin Sandeep and HR Nikita have a great vendor, and the costume is high-quality.

i just finished essaying the role of one of the most beloved characters in the history of mankind. Yes, Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are in the top 5 so we can take a chill pill.

Since i have had the good fortune of dabbling in amateur theatre growing up, i know some of the rudimentary skills like, “getting into character”

Directors i have worked with have always emphasised the importance of getting under the skin of the character you play.

And it really is ALL in the mind.

I have cried on stage for my dead gay lover by reliving an experience which was completely unrelated.

After all its about entertainment, and Santas brand is ALL about giving people full paisa vasool.

Santa is there to make you happy

Santa loves helping you forget the tough times (even if its for a few minutes)

Santa loves making families stronger by bringing them together

Santa is for everybody. Not just catholics or Christians. He is a global icon.

Santa went viral way before the internet was invented.

Santa is a management guru who promoted the concept of delegating (to his trusted elves) way before the KANBAN method or any other management process was put in place

Santa uses a sleigh which is 100% eco friendly.

Santa makes ageing and silvers look cool!

That last point is probably the most pertinent one for a hashtag#WIpdad like myself.

So next December, dont wait for HR to call. So next December, dont wait for hR to call. Jump on your sleigh and volunteer for the job. Trust me SANTAS-faction is another trip altogether/
